Happy Thursday, 11th graders!
Today is our last day of ACT practice testing. The ACT is TUESDAY, February 27. All students must be at school no later than 8 a.m.
1st period - math test (60 questions in 60 min)
2nd period - reading test (40 questions in 35 min)
Please score your test and find our your "scale score." 2nd period will be able to find their composite score at this point. Just figure out the average of all four scale scores (English, math, reading and science). You are receiving credit so please don't lose your tests.
TIPS AND INFO FOR TEST DAY.
Schedule.
All students need to be at school by 8 a.m. to ensure we conclude by 12:30. Proceed to your assigned testing room:
Alling-Fanara: SUN
Fey-Quintana: BLUE
Rawson-Davis: WORLD
NO cell phones or water will be permitted at your seat. You may drink water during breaks but phones must remain off.
Including breaks, the total test time is 4 hours.
TEST 1 - English - 45 min
TEST 2 - Math - 60 min
15 min break - snacks provided
TEST 3 - Reading - 35 min
TEST 4 - Science - 35 min
10 min break - No snacks
TEST 5 - Writing - 40 min
Tips.
Before:
1. Start hydrating on Sunday or Monday.
2. Get at least 2 nights of really good sleep, like 9-11 hours.
3. Get a calculator that is allowed in the test (see list attached at the bottom of this post).
4. Get a digital watch or clock to keep track of your time.
5. Eat well and exercise.
Test Prep:
1. Go over practice tests completed in class.
2. Know exactly why you missed what you did, especially on math.
3. This guyʻs youtube channel is full of great hacks, especially about timing.
4. If you really want to do well, practice on real tests! Hereʻs a link to 5.
5. *We did not practice the writing section* This is a great resource to read and take to heart. Please do at least one timed writing practice this weekend.
Day of the test:
1. Pack your pencils, calculator, and watch/clock.
2. Get to school by 8 am, latest.
3. Eat protein and complex carbs for breakfast, avoid refined sugar.
4. Bring non-sugary snacks (we will have cheese sticks and granola bars too for the 15 min break).
5. Bring a water bottle.
During test:
1. Use your 2 breaks wisely: stretch and move to get blood flowing
2. Sip water (to minimize trips to the bathroom) during breaks. You should be hydrated already.
3. Donʻt stress! Take it easy. Youʻre going to do great, and you can take it as many times as you want.
