Aloha and Happy Monday, 9th Graders!
My son fell ill this weekend and I will be out today to stay home with him. Because I am gone, all students who still need to present are now scheduled to present WEDNESDAY. Please be ready to go at this time. I will also have all autobiographies graded with feedback by this time.
TODAY you will take the time to thoughtfully reflect on the author autobiography assignment. This is the final assignment for the quarter. I expect nothing less than respect and courtesy for the sub today. Please aim to finish your reflection in class, else it becomes homework. Reflections should be in the Assignment Dropbox, completed, no later than Wednesday morning 8 a.m.
Author Autobiography Final Reflection.
In a Google document, please write a thoughtful, typed and edited reflection on the author autobiography assignment. Please answer all prompts in your reflection and remember to separate different ideas into separate paragraphs. You may also choose to answer each question individually if this is easier for you to process.
Your reflection should 1-2 typed pages and address the following:
1. Describe two-three things you have learned while working on and/or presenting your author autobiography. These may be things you have learned about yourself, other classmates, writing skills, presentation skills, etc.
2. What might be the purpose of completing this kind of assignment in an English class? What benefits did it have for you individually? What about the class as a whole?
3. What part of your assignment are you most proud of?
4. If you could go back, what would you do differently to improve upon either your autobiography or self-portrait?
5. What grade would you give yourself on this assignment and why?
6. What was most surprising about the writing process steps/support and the actual composing of your author autobiography?
7. What memories unexpectedly emerged as powerful in some way?
8. What moments in the creation process of your self-portrait were unexpected and brought new understandings, insights and perspectives of your own life?
9. As you were presenting your autobiography and self-portrait, what surprising moments occurred in your thinking and understanding of yourself?
10. What advice/suggestions would you give to future students who might do this same project?
11. What advice/suggestions would you give to the teacher for the next time she assigns this project?
Please submit your thoughtful, typed, and edited reflection to the Assignment Dropbox when you have finished. Please send your reflection no later than Wednesday. No reflections will be accepted after this time.
